Artist statement

For me, it’s all about capturing the emotions.
My work is not directly political, although I am politically aware.
I lean more and more towards work that gives me insight into people’s lives and environment because I find in it a meaningful substance as well as visual fulfillment.
I am currently working on a long-term project that I call “SATURN IN JUPITER,” Where I am photographing a retirement community in Florida, the sweet life.
I am interested in this chapter in people’s lives. To this place, people come from all walks of life with all their baggage and opinions to face the challenge of compromising and finding a new balance.
My background is in commercial and editorial photography. Today I focus solely on my artistic work, with one exception: I still do editorial work for the New York Times.
I am a founding member of FISL Físl – The Icelandic Contemporary Photography Association.
I stared and ran Ramskram, a non-commercial exhibition space for contemporary photography in Reykjavík, for six years.
I have sat on numerous committees for the arts here in Iceland over the years
